An interactive Fair Under the banner of a participatory culture
| The best way to celebrate the Fair's first twenty five years is once again to look ahead, tackling the rapid changes that are transforming all aspects of our social life and of which books are a faithful mirror.
The appointment at Lingotto has gradually seen the growth of a mature public, which identifies itself in the values of an active culture and wants to take part in a real discussion, feeling itself a player in interactive exchange. The participation of the visitors has made visible an explicit demand for democracy no longer delegated, but participatory, managed first hand. A demand for real dialogue and discussion has grown: a true culture of sharing that the Fair welcomes, drawing on the positive experience of the programme of the Bookstock Village, the space traditionally reserved for young and very young readers. From the 2011 edition Andrea Bajani has gathered together a group of children, with whom he has identified a series of key words particularly significant for them. This was the starting point for progressive elaboration developed in the months preceding the Fair and reached its conclusion at Lingotto. In a similar way, the 2012 Fair will create around the key events that tackle the "hot" issues at the centre of debate reading groups which will examine them in depth in advance to prepare the final discussion with the speakers invited to Lingotto. |
